Andrey Rublev Fumes at French Open Loss

Frustrated Russian Smashes Racket After Shocking Defeat

Paris, France - 26 May 2024

Andrey Rublev's French Open campaign came to a crashing end on Sunday as he succumbed to a surprising third-round loss to unseeded Italian Matteo Arnaldi. The sixth-seeded Russian was visibly frustrated by his performance and took out his anger on his racquet, smashing it into the court in a fit of rage.

Rublev, a former top-10 player, had a tough start to the season but had shown signs of improvement in recent weeks. He had reached the third round at Roland Garros after a hard-fought win over Taro Daniel in the previous round.

However, against the unheralded Arnaldi, Rublev struggled to find his rhythm. The Italian played with confidence and controlled the majority of the match, eventually winning in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-2.

Rublev's outburst was the latest in a series of incidents involving him at the French Open. The Russian has a history of struggling at Roland Garros, and his early exit this year will be a major disappointment.
